As healthcare organizations move deeper into value-based care, it’s essential that any hard-earned advancements in the areas of data sharing and interoperability continue to evolve into next generation performance. Consider the strides made by health information exchanges (HIEs) in recent years. Capabilities such as secure messaging, electronic record exchange, provider authentication and patient matching are now commonplace. Some of the more advanced HIEs tout infrastructures that support e-prescribing, event alerting, and automated public health reporting to fully support their constituents.
This all starts with providers: How are they using HIEs and what they need from them in the future to continue better and more efficient patient care?
Providers’ take on HIE effectiveness
Providers are now looking to their HIEs to deliver more advanced analytics capabilities to help stratify, prioritize and better coordinate patient interactions and outreach without exacerbating concerns over growing HIT budgets. They are interested in systems that merge actual cost and claims data with existing clinical data to create a more complete patient picture to assess outcomes. They also need tools that enable more efficient care coordination and provide access to information from non-traditional environments to better monitor patient health.
Putting providers at the center of the HIE conversation
As we take the next step in information exchange in cooperation with our partners, we’re looking to leverage applicable market experience for building solutions that bolster the long-term viability of HIEs in their regions and communities. Join us at HIMSS17 to share your thoughts on what the industry should be thinking about when it comes to the next generation of health information exchange.
Join Bruno Nardone, Senior Vice President of Population Health Solutions, at HIMSS17 booth #3361 on Wednesday, February 22nd from 9:30-10:15 A.M EST for morning coffee and an open discussion about what’s next for HIEs. Click here to check out our latest E-book Five signs you need a HIE Solution.
